The Church of Samhain is a religious organization that formally represents the religion of Samhainism. Our religion is based on the customs, traditions, and philosophy of Halloween.
What does Samhain mean?
Samhain is believed to be one of the origins of what we now know to be Halloween, today. Historically, it was a Celtic festival held on the night of October 31st til the dawn of November 1st.
Why Halloween?
Halloween offers up a delightful philosophy on how to approach the morbid matters in life. Halloween celebrates the dark and macabre, and so do Samhainists!
What is a Samhainist?
A Samhainist is someone that regards Halloween as not just a fun holiday, but a way of life. Halloween is literally our religion.
How is Samhainism a religion?
Religion is simply a collection of deeply-held beliefs. With the Samhainist philosophy and the added rituals, Samhainism qualifies as a religion.
So what do you worship?
Nothing! Samhainism is a nontheistic religion, meaning that we don’t acknowledge the existence of a deity within our philosophy. Instead, the matter of deity belief is left up to the individual, outside of Samhainist practices.
How do I become a Samhainist?
It’s easy! Look around the website, read our material, and if you find that you’re in agreement with our philosophy and practices, then you‘re a Samhainist! No need for any conversion process!
